I purchased 11 sexed female chicks from Meyer Hatchery in June. All seem to be pullets but I'm questioning my Olive Egger, Pepper. She has pullet features, no wattle development, same size legs as the others, no aggression, no Male saddle feathers, no signs of crowing, same feathering as the other girls, but her comb is pea comb and bigger than I expected. Most my girls are starting to get color in their combs as they are maturing, and in particular her and my barred Plymouth Rock seem to have the most red especially when running around. I've seen pictures of olive egger hens with the same lineage (Black Copper Marans x Blue Ameraucana) have a comb the same as or even a little bigger than hers, but I'm still just very unsure. Hoping for a hens as I was so looking forward to olive eggs. Here are some pictures.

Keep in mind these were taken after the chickens had been free ranging all morning, I had just let the dogs out, and they chased me down because I had some treats for them so their combs look more red than they normally do. :p

That is not a pea comb; it's a rose comb, as a wyandotte would have. Methinks you have been substituted a different breed, or there has been a mix up of some kind. Rose combs are dominant over pea, whilst pea is linked to the blue egg gene. There's still a chance of coloured eggs from her.

Oh no! :hit That makes me so sad.

Here's one of the pictures on Meyers website for their olive eggers that looks sort of similar

As I said, the other characteristics do fit, so there's still a chance. Looking at their website, there aren't any breeds there that fit the characteristics of your girl, with her rose comb and feathered legs. I also see a little beard, so she may well be from OE stock. They look like nice healthy birds.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

"I dont have a swedish flower hen, but I wish I did! I think the one you're referring to is a silver laced wyandotte. :)"

I have two (started with five; one was a roo, one got eaten, one was kinda mean so we gave her away) And they are the most beautiful things!!! I highly suggest them... my profile pic is one of them! :D
ps. I don't know how to quote! :D
