14 weeks old - waiting for some eggs

my buff orpingtons combs and the skin on their face (not sure what you call it) is finally starting to turn red

the skin on their face started turning red about 2 weeks ago and has worked its way up towards the base of their combs (almost like they started blushing and haven't stopped)

looking forward to the first batch of fresh eggs

anyone know how long it takes once they get to this stage before they start laying?

Mine has been red-ish since I got her (16 weeks) she is now 22 weeks and hasnt laid yet....you will probably be waiting awhile...

You've prpbably got a while to wait yet....my orps usually don't start until 25-28 weeks.

Yep, the orps like my brahmas take their own sweet time. I waited until 9 1/2 months for two of my brahmas to finally get with the program.

I think I'm close to getting eggs...Friday they will be 19 weeks... *sigh* but I know it might still be a bit longer

i have a few black and red sex links that are all at 19 weeks now and still no eggs from them either

the 2 BO i have are at 19 weeks also and still no eggs

so i feel for you

My girls started to turn red about the same time and the first one laid at 19 weeks, second at 20 weeks, third at 22 weeks and yesterday my little banty Quail Antwerp laid her first at 24 weeks! I'm still waiting for my EE to lay now. One of my layers started to lay before her comb was all that big and certainly not red. My best indicator has been seeing them start to do the squat and spending more and more time in the nest boxes.

my girls are 16 weeks today and i found my first egg this morning. isn't that early? it was on the wire under their roost. bring on some eggs! should i change them over to layer food now?
