Hello all! First of all I want to say thank you to so many of you. I have learned so much in the last month from your forum! We inherited an easter egger hen from a friend that was sitting on 24 eggs. We built a chicken coop in a day and moved her at night and waited. I was concerned about how thin she felt when I picked her up (nothing thin at my house!) so I fed her chick starter and all kinds of snacks. She loves watermelon! Anyway on the 28th of June we hatched our first chick! By the end of the day on the 30th we had 15 sweet chicks! Honestly with the move and how many eggs we had, and losing 3 on the way, I only expected a few! We were blessed. I also, when going to the farm store to by food for Meg ( the hen) found 9 chicks on the way out the door to wherever they send the ones they don't sell. Yep. You guessed it I brought them all home now needing to build cages 2 and 3 for my ladies. (6 were about 5 weeks old, 2 were about a week, and 1 about 2 weeks). So now we have 25 chickens! We had no idea that we would have so much fun with these girls and absolutely love them!!! So now to keep learning how to care for them!
