So, yesterday I was out in the hay barn when I noticed one of our white leghorns laying on the ground soaking wet(it was pouring). I went to pick her up and she got very mad at me. Then I noticed a chick under her, then another, and another..... there were 15 babies!!! We've had a bobcat picking off our birds lately and just assumed she was a victim of his attacks. Apparently she had been sitting somewhere in the hay shed. We were stunned, it's cold and rainy here. Shouldn't they quit setting this time of year. Anyway, they are just adorable, 10 white and 5 red chicks. They were wet as well and shivering. We grabbed them and put them and Mom in the garage with a light. They are all dry, warm and fluffed now. I cannot load pics right now so I cannot share in that way. Thought I would share our nice surprise though.
