Please help. We have two Buff Orpingtons that are almost 15 weeks old. One of them has significantly larger comb and wattles that seem very red at this point. Her tail is also a little darker and seems to stick up a bit more. I am no expert but I do not notice any saddle feathers. Does anyone think this could be a roo? We cannot keep roosters here so we are really hoping for a no but want to prepare the kids if their beloved friend might need to be rehomed.

At 16 and a half weeks I am starting to wonder again. This chicken’s comb and wattles are much bigger and redder than my other Buff Orpington and it looks like she has darker hackle feathers. I still do not see saddle feathers and she has not crowed at all but is a little more friendly and “talkative” than my other 3 chickens. Does any anyone think this could possibly be a rooster? Still really hoping it’s a no but she keeps making me wonder.
