15-week old hen or a roo?

It would be great if it were a pullet. I’d feel like I’d lost a friend if roo hormones kicked in and it wasn’t as friendly.

What do you mean by precocious pullet? She has been very vocal lately, just hanging next to me and kind of muttering so to speak.

Precocious meaning you should be expecting your first egg soon.

I just looked up squatting and it’s exactly what this bird does when I pet it. Wings come out slightly and she seems to plant herself almost as if I startled her.

If she does start to lay how would I give layer feed if all the other pullets have weeks to lay? I have 16 all 14/15 weeks.

It’s most definitely a pullet then, some can lay as early as 15 weeks and some can lay as late as 28 weeks, it depends on the breed.
Looks like yours will be laying SOON, who knows, you might get an egg tomorrow.

I don't feed any of my birds layer feed. I have them all on grower/broiler and supplement calcium. Most layer feeds don't have enough protein anyway, so sticking with the higher protein feed works best for me.

Continue to feed grower, or an all flock or a flock raiser and offer oyster on the side.

You can feed them all layer when they all start to lay.

As stated above, feed them all grower with oyster shell in a side dish for now
