My 15 week amerecauna pullet is very unsteady on her feet, and is laying down almost continually. Just started today. He tail is low and she stumbles. She is eating and drinking. No visible sign of any respitory distress. When she lays down, she is all fluffed out

I bought some poly vi sol, and put electrolytes in water. The lady at the feed store said it was ok to switch to layer feed, since I had some a few weeks older than this group, she has been on layer for a couple weeks. I am heading to get more chick feed, and replacing layer. Could the layer feed been the culprit?

I doubt it's anything related to the feed.

What is your weather like?
Have you checked her at night time for mites?
Has she ever been wormed?

It's been about 75, I checked for mites, and it's not that. They haven't been wormed, but the do get cucumber scraps about once a week.

I would take fresh poop into the nearest vet and have a fecal test done asap.
Btw. what do you think giving them cucumbers does?
I've never heard of this.

How does her crop feel?
Is it emptying each nite?

I'll check her crop in the morning, she is still eating, so it's got stuff in it now. I've read and heard that pumpkin/squash and cucumber are natural dewormers.

I just checked her vent and she has a poop stuck in her feathers, but it's not blocking it.

I'll get a sample to the vet, thanks for the advice!

You should probably give her a warm bath and soak the poop off before that causes other problems.

I went out to check her this morning, (still alive, thank goodness) she was still on the roost. It felt like she has a ping pong ball size lump in her crop, it was twice as big last evening. There is a possibility she got down and ate already this morning, so I'm not 100% her crop didn't empty.
Could she have a partially impacted crop? After I massaged her crop for a minute, I set her down and she went to nibble on some food.
