Hello! I am new to the chicken world, and although I’ve done a ton of research, I thought I’d ask the pros...so here goes: I have 6 pullets (I’m praying), but I’ve been suspicious of my 1 black australorp, my little Matilda (praying she is not a Matt), has a bigger wattle and comb then the rest of the flock, although I’ve read they develop those earlier than some breeds, she hasn’t laid yet, she isn’t crowing, she isn’t agressive or have spurs growing, but her tail worries me as well. Also, I read that roosters let their hens eat first and Matilda is ALWAYS the first to eat and run to me for food. So what do y’all think?

I was hoping my gut was wrong, we’ll have to give her away if she is a Matt :(

I have BAs. If the tail feathers are rounded and neat looking it's a pullet. If they are scraggly then cockerel. This is true for mine.

I'm going to say rooster. The fact Australorps have shimmery feathers is throwing me off, but I'm pretty sure it's a boy.
Forget that. It's a roo. It's gotta be 🤣
