This chick will be 16 weeks old tomorrow. He has a black copper marans father, and a golden laced wyandotte mother. There's a possibility his mother is a blue laced red wyandotte, but I don't think so.

Anyway, from the very beginning, I thought it was a cockerel. The wattles came in quickly (which is common for a wyandotte) and were fairly pink. Now that he's nearly 16 weeks and I'm not really seeing any saddle feathers, and the wattles haven't gotten any bigger or pinker, I'm beginning to question myself. There hasn't been any crowing either, but with three other roosters in the pen, that doesn't surprise me. I've even pulled aside the feathers where the saddle feathers would come in- I've always seen those pointy feathers poking through by this point, but nothing.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think.

I have to admit I would be THRILLED if it was a girl. I incubated and hatched both of its' parents, so it would be my first "grandchicken". It's also by far my friendliest chicken (sign it's a cockerel, -sigh- the sweet ones always are boys), and my 7 year old's favorite.

Those other pictures are only 3 days old. Really doesn't look much different now, except a little damp because it's snowing here today.
