16 wk chickens - pullets? BO & SLW

Hi everyone! I have 2 buff orps, and 2 SLW that are all 16 weeks. It seems one of each breed had a spurt of their comb size and turned really red. Photos Labeled A and B to differentiate the pairs. Hoping they are growing at different rates and not a cockerel in there. šŸ¤žšŸ» Thank you for any insight! 😊

I think both SLWs are pullets, but I’m not familiar with BOs - looks like a pullet but don’t quote me on that.

I thought these breeds were later to start laying eggs so I was surprised how red they got recently.

That’s because at 16 weeks they are approaching POL (point of lay). You should see eggs anywhere from the next 3 to 6 weeks 🄚 šŸ³

Thank you! How exciting!!! … I, for some reason, thought they would be closer to 6-7 months before they laid eggs.
