Better to be killed by you than left inhumanely in the wild to starve or be killed by predators. NO, it is not okay to leave them in the woods to die or be killed.

Post them for sale or give them away....no questions. If they go to another flock or feed someone's family it's much more humane than releasing an animal in the woods that's been cared for and fed it's whole life.

Give them away, my neighbor has chickens that lived into their 10s. with her oldest being 13. They may be old for laying, but they still have many many years left. Try and give them away to somewhere you know they won't be culled, there are also some poultry rescues that might take them in. where are you located if you're comfortable saying? I would absolutely be willing to take them. The best of luck to you and your flock!
