I have a half Americana half cochin hen and am wondering possibly what colored eggs she could lay and when she could start laying? She's 18 weeks old and google says 6-7 months for the ameircana and 8 months for the cochin. Pic of her... Aurora. I'm just curious cus one of my 3 hens (not sure if it's the australorp, starlight green egger, or her) are starting to lay (4 light brown eggs... one on tue, one on thurs, and two this morning but all are smaller then a normal brown egg) 2nd pic is first egg layed 3rd pic is next to an egg we get from a local Mennonite. All 4 of my new eggs are all the same size as pic 2. I'm assuming the egg layer is Ursula the australorp but not sure. Sorry got side tracked from the initial question.

Aurora is a beautiful name and perfectly fits the bluey-green sheen on her feathers!

Eggers and egger mixes can lay almost any color of eggs; there's no guarantee you'll get a blue or green. The only way to know for sure is to stick a camera outside the nesting boxes and see what comes out of her!

The eggs you posted do not look like Australorp eggs. Mine laid a very light cream egg with almost a pink undertone, so it's possible this one came from Aurora or the Starlight Green Egger.

These are all the eggs that have been layed (still not sure which one of the 3) Saturday we had 2 layed and yesterday one was lyaed but broken before we got it. We had one today so I'm thinking the one laying might be getting to the point of laying daily instead of every other day. They are all still tiny so not sure if she will lay bigger ones later or if hers will always be tiny? They look lighter in person (tried to use flash in 2nd pic to maybe get better color but still no). Pic 3 is next to the last 3 eggs we have from the local mennonite farmer.

I wanted Disney princess names but my black australorp is a meany to us (tries to peck us any chance she gets) so is Ursula. The easter egger we have was Ariel but turned out to be a rooster so is now jafar. We call the starlight star (cus can't pick a name for her (Ariel doesn't seem fitting). My daughter thought bell bottom for aurora and I figured bell for short but then felt the same bout the feather color so thought aurora. I now have 2 french black copper maran pullets that I can't name yet. I could name one snow white or Cinderella but they don't seem like would fit (and I have a goat named snow. Ursula the black australorp I thought was suppose to lay brown eggs which is why I thought it was her laying them. I'd love rainbow eggs but will just be happy with eggs in general.
