Hello,
This is my first time here. I am looking for help/advice about one of my pullets. I have a small flock of 6 pullets, hatched on April 3, 2018, consisting of 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Black Austalorp, and 3 Ameraucanas. The 3 Ameraucanas are smaller than the others but 1 of them is exceptionally lighter/smaller (Olive). In the past few weeks they have begun to fill out/putt on more weight but Olive is not keeping up. At first I thought she was just going to be a little smaller than the rest, but as the others get fuller in the chest and legs, Olive doesn't appear to be getting any fuller. Her breast bone is just bone, nothing more. She feels so fragile and light compared to the others. I have seen her eating and drinking. And the only difference in behavior compared to the others is that she appears more docile, as if she is friendlier, easier to pick up... but this could be that she has less energy causing her to not put up a fuss when I catch her. None of the others appear sick, all have good appetites and are growing. I am not sure of her poop. The poop in the run looks solid, but if any had diarrhea, I'm not sure I'd notice since it might soak into the ground/grass. They are also on a hill that gets quite a bit of rain and washes things away. I have a EcoFlex Barn Coop, that does not open up from the top without removing the slats in the roof so it is difficult to check out the poop in the coop. I will open it up this weekend to see what I can see but am afraid any diarrhea would be soaked up in to the shavings. At this point I am pretty sure she is not just a late bloomer and that something else is going on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
