$18.57 per 50lb bag of BOSS....is this price OK?

It's usually around $12 for 50 lbs. around here. Sometimes it goes on sale for $10.

mine isn't BOSS, just the regular old sunflower seeds w/ the white stripes on them...

but i pay $240/ton for certified organic sunflower seeds which comes out to $4.80/40 lb bag

I usually pay about 36-39 cents a pound at our local Rural King. Its usually cheaper to buy in the bulk bin than to buy prebagged.

I pay about $14 at TSC, it's best to check around.

Almost always the same #50 bags since 2005 (K-brand seeds, bagged by Geo Kelller & Sons out of Quincy, Il). 2005: $16.25 (when gas went up in 7/08): $23.50. 11/10: $18.25. A year ago our feed store switched suppliers. The owner, when asked why, said: "Too many blanks." This made sense at the time as I was wondering why the turks had been leaving so many of the seeds (they normally scarf the entire bowl down). The turks can tell the difference without having to crack the seeds open. Feed store has since switched back to original supplier (have busted/defleshed random 30gm. scoops open to 'guesstimate'`percentage' of blanks I'm buying - though turk's consumption pattern is more accurate
