momma's chickens :

Can you tell me how you pack your eggs to ship them? I am interested in these.

I wrap each egg in a paper towel and place them in an egg carton. I then wrap the egg carton in aluminum foil and then wrap the foiled carton in bubble wrap or foam.
I then pack the wrapped & taped carton in a flat rate postage box putting popcorns or other packing material around the package to take up any extra space.
I have had good results with this method - but if you have any further suggestions or requests I will try to do whatever you prefer.

As I understand it - the foil helps to protect the eggs from any x-rays the postal service may subject the package to.

HI, No problem it is a continuous education - I am learning form the others on the forum everyday.
BBS stands or Blue/Black/Splash which is the color of any particular breed. I have orpingtons you are probably familiar with buff orpingtons or white orpingtons. I have blue/black orpingtons... but I include BBS because as I understand it you need Black & Splash to make blue... I have blue & black, now I don't know if I will get any splash or not mine are still in the incubator, but I am interested to see. :) so I include splash in my description just to be safe.
They are a terrific breed with a quiet gentle temperament, I find them to be quite docile but with distinct personalities. They are a good layer with a medium/lg light brown egg
out of 4 hens I get 3 eggs most days and 4 eggs 2 or 3 days a week. They are hardy enough for my winters in Kentucky I do not have a closed in coop for them and they have handled our winter just fine - I can PM you more elaborate details on our system if you are interested. We have had no losses due to predators since we have started this system approx. 18 months ago.

Feel free to ask any questions at all - I hope this helps
