18 Chickens, 2-4 eggs a day

250 watts is 250 watts no matter what color. Red or white. They are all a fire hazard. I have read lots of articles. Som say red, some say white. All I know is red seems to work around here for a lot of people. Not everything works for everybody.

You only need 40W incandescent bulb for winter laying supplemental lighting.

I have 9 chickens that produce 1-5 eggs a day. Does the lack of eggs have to do with the summer heat?

Arb, try posting a new thread about this.
Summer heat is not making your birds feel better, and any stress can/ will decrease egg production. Anyone molting? Diet issues? Some other stress?
Are your birds getting older?
Mine aren't producing well right now either; it's hot, and we had a hawk attack last week. They care!

..and close to molting time.....seeing a slow down due to that too.
