18-Week-Old BLM Wyandotte I am so confused

Can someone explain the black in her tail? These are from end of August:

This is my bantam splash blue laced red wyandotte for comparison. Yours has a big straight tail and a bit of a crest, so I'm thinking there is something else in there. Polish perhaps. The tail looks like my gold laced polish's one, see below.

Yes, that might explain it. Her tail has always been unlike my other hens, which added another level to my confusion. Just happy she seems to be a girl - hopefully I will soon have an egg from the grumpy weirdo. :)

That settles it. Any polish keeper will tell you that grumpy weirdo is an apt description! 😂

fwiw both my wyandotte and polish are great layers!

Come back and tell us what colour her eggs are when she starts to lay.

I will! She's really so fussy -- I live on the 20 acres of the school I work at. Yesterday I picked her up and she screamed so insanely that I got a call from a coworker asking if an animal were attacking my chickens.

Haha, sounds exactly like my frizzle Polish. You'd think I was killing her when I pick her up, but within a minute she is happy to sit in my arms. She is totally kooky.
