This is Gyro. I'm sure he is a rooster.

This is Gadget..... I was sure and am hoping this one is female. It's half the size of gyro and was hatched the same day. We have another silkie that is closely related to gyro and they are about the same height but their hatch days are a week apart.

Gyro and gadget got into it so badly that I had to turn the house on them (were in tx it's not that cold) it's the only way I could split them up. They have never done that before.

It's my Gadget a roo?

Ignore my oh so happy son. He had just gotten into trouble

I'm leaning towards cockerel on both of them, but I'm not 100% sure. Silkies are very hard to sex until they either crow or lay.

their parents are show winners if that matters.

i cant have any more roos than i already have =(

I agree both look like cockerels to me and that would explain the battles between them. Each wants to be alpha roo. Silkies are extremely difficult to sex early - if you don't want to risk having more cockerels it would be best if you could get older pullets - those at point of lay. They would cost more but, you wouldn't have the aggravation of trying to rehome males - when the chicken world is full of them. If you want to hatch chicks though, you run into the same problem of maybe having cockerels to deal with.

We were looking to breed them but I didn't want to have anymore than 2 roosters in the yard. I already have a Cochin rooster. We also need to rehome some of the 15 chicks we have just hatched because I know the we can't have a 100% pullet hatch (althought it would be nice)

23 weeks old. No crow. Gyro is crowing. Gidget has flared her neck feathers as gadget has but does not fight.
