So, I'm getting down to end of a 50 lb bag of grower feed. I've heard the egg song twice this week, a couple of them have red faces, but.....NO EGGS!

I think I have enough feed for possibly two more weeks. What do you think.....should I just buy the layer feed next time I'm at the feed store and start mixing it in?

my 12 pullets are 19 weeks old and i have about a week worth of grower mash left and then there going to layer mash my red sex links should lay anytime now .

I would buy the layer and if they start laying before the Grower is gone then just mix the left over Grower with the Layer. I did and have had no problems Otherwise I would just feed them the Grower until it is gone then switch over to the Layer.

I did the same thing. Mix the Layer Crumble with the Starter grower. My girls didnt like pellets or mash. I get the Purina Layena and of course lots of treats. Your girls will start laying anytime now.

I switched mine over to layer feed around 15-16 weeks on the advice of the feed store. They only had 50lb bags which I knew my 5 chickens wouldn't get through in just a few weeks, so I asked if I should just buy layer feed.. they said it wouldn't be a problem. And it hasn't been! I got my first eggs this morning at 19 1/2 weeks
