So I noticed her poking around the nest box and sitting in it. Now she’s gone and laid her first blue egg at 18 weeks. I’ve never had a chicken lay that early and I figured not for a few months still because of the breed.

is that bad? She is still growing and not at all full size.

i was told by someone to not give them layer feed until they are around 20 weeks because they need grower feed not layer

I don’t think it’s bad she’s just early. (If you haven’t already) I would just put out oyster shell as free choice!😉

She is fine, everything is fine. I have had pullets lay at 16 weeks old. Its plenty fine. They lay when they want. In fact, there really is not much of a way to rush it.
