Our chickens were born March 15. At the end of summer we were getting 12-14 eggs a time. Now we are getting 4-6. The drop happened when it got suddenly very cold. Now it is warm again (we live in the DFW area) and we got 3 eggs yesterday.

Is this normal? I don't really care about the eggs, we get enough. But, I know that eggs are an indicator of health and happiness in the chickens. Should I be worried about them?

My April pullets are in full blown molt this year. Winter eggs needs to be carefully timed. May/June is the best time frame to raise pullets for winter laying.

You don't need to be worried. It's likely just a molt or the changing daylight, or a combination.
