We adopted two RIRs two months ago. Both girls were molting so I assumed we wouldn't see any eggs for a while. Then, every once in a while I would find an extra egg which meant one of my RIRs was laying, but not very often. No big deal, I love her anyway.
So, last week, my mother discovered "Red" down in some bamboo laying an egg in a nest she had made. We could see that she had a couple more eggs under her. Awwww...so cute, she made her very own nest. We waited for her to finish and to our surprise we found 19 eggs!!! It was hysterical. The more we pulled out, the more there were. It was like Easter! I can't believe she has been laying all this time.
I'm new to all of this, but my girls keep me perpetually amused!
