Hey guys,

I was looking thru ebay tonight and found a 1905 APA Standard of Perfection. Bid atm is 11$ with shipping as $4. I remember someone the other day talking about some breed/variation that used to be in the standard (tho it might have been UK not US) and they would like to get ahold of an old standard to see what the breed was supposed to be so that they could get correct form in their recreation. Here is the link to the auction, I am not bidding on it since I figure if anyone here is interested they could get better use out of it than I perhaps.

ETA: Found a 1942 one as well

With 2 days left on the auction it will go higher. There actually are a lot of SOP's on E bay and 1905 is fairly common. A lot of the early years they way over printed so they are more common that you would think.
By the way the 1905 edition is the first one that has illustrations.

Yea but you have to be careful over there because some people believe that because it is old that it is worth a LOT of money. I would like to know just how many SOP's the APA printed in 1905,1910 and 1915. Each year had new illustrations. I like the ones in the 1905 the best, as far as Modern Games go.

I have bought books from ABE.com but I actually knew what I was buying. For the most part better deals are had on EBay, you just have to be a little more patient.

What do you have to be careful of? It's not an auction. Selling prices are listed. If it's more than you want to pay you just don't order the book.

You have to be careful that you don't pay too much just because they tell you that it is old and rare. When people are starting out in something they might not be as wise as you and assume the seller knows what they are talking about. If they think it is rare then they may buy it quickly and find out it is not rare.
