I have a black Australorp. She lays an egg the exact same size as my Silver laced Wyandotte one day, the next will be a small size double yoke. What can cause this? Seems it should be the opposite to me. Curious as to the probable cause.

How old is she? Pullets at the beginning of their laying cycle can produce odd eggs as can aged birds about to take a break in their laying cycle.
She has been producing for about a month. I assumed her first egg would be small but they seem to alternate. I get about 2 large then 1 small that has double yoke.
