1st chick hatched!!! ...now I have a question!

Is it normal for the chick to almost be hitting the heating element at the top of the bator? The little guy has come pretty close. He just hatched about 20 minutes ago.

no, the turner's not in. It's a little giant still air incubator.

They should be fine unless it's standing on top of something to hit the heating element. I've never heard of any problems and a lot of people (including myself) use the LG's

Ok. Thank you! I just have the wire in there with that shelf liner stuff on top... the chick is pretty big (a maran cross) so that may be why?

I was wondering the same question..... My chicks would try to stand up and got within a hair of the heater part. Worried me, but they never got tall enough to touch it. Even my larger ducklings couldnt touch it, but still scary
