1st chicken ever

:welcome

Cute, glad you were able to get to her before she was hurt. If you'd like to post the photos over on this forum, you can get some feedback on what breed she is:

Best wishes to you and Peepers!

:welcome glad to have you join us.

Peepers is one lucky chick to have you rescue her ( that's my guess).

Have you considered keeping Peepers as a house chicken? She looks comfy inside. If you search "house hen, chicken, etc" there are quite a number of folks who have successfully kept them inside.
It's a possibility. There are a few concerns I have with keeping her in the house though. The main one is that we rent. I'm not so sure how the landlord would feel about us having a chicken in general, let alone living in the house haha. Although she hasn't been around another of her kind since she was super tiny and even though she talks chicken...I think she may think that she's a human. So I don't know how well she would adjust if/when I get her some friends. I just know she follows me around the house and comes running/flying when called, so I don't think she's unhappy without friends of her own kind right now.

If you get her some friends, please explore integration/adding to a flock. it can be a challenging adventure and unpredictable.

I definitely will. I have done nothing but researched everything I possibly might need to know ever since she was brought to me. And I have no intention of letting her be anything but happy and healthy.

I would recommend keeping him/her as a house chicken also except for your cat. Cat is probably not happy that you got the chick away before she could eat it. There is a very good thread called "people with house chickens." you may want to check out just in case.

Chick is adorable
