Hey gang.
So our hens are about 20 to 21 weeks. Today before we left for work we checked for eggs and had a hen in a nesting box. I checked under her and nothing so I left her thinking she was gonna lay. When we got home she was still in the same box. No egg under her. I scootched her out of the box and cleaned up.
My wife noticed she was less skittish than usual and was holding a leg up like a flamingo. Some did a quick google search and figured she may be egg bound. So we did the 20 min warm bath with Epsom salts. Now my wife is cuddling her in a towel on the couch to dry her off and then return her to the coop.

Did we do everything right or is there anything else we can do?

If you haven’t already, give her a human calcium citrate plus d3 vitamin, 600 mg. You can get them at most grocery and drug stores. Just pull down wattles gently and pop the pill in, let go of wattles and she should swallow fine. This should help with contractions to push the egg out. Place her somewhere warm, dim and quiet after giving. Ensure she is hydrated, too.
