I am sooooo happy today. One of my 5 girls layed her first egg. She is a 25 week old Dominique, named Samantha.
She has been following me around chatting up a storm for the past few days. Today I seen the other 4 girls were out of the coop, went to check inside and she was in her nest box, fluffing up the shavings. So I let her be, then I went back out about an hour later and sure enough she layed an egg and she was sitting on it. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was at seeing the very first egg of my girls. Amazing! One thing though out of the five girls she has the least develped wattles and comb, but she is a big time squatter. I thought for sure it was going to be one of the other girls.
