Thanks! It's hard to see in the pic but it's a light lime green. These chickens are only 16 wks old so I don't expect many more eggs anytime soon. I'll probably just scramble it up and feed it back to them, I was happy with the shape and shell thickness though, These chickens free range and eat God-knows-what besides their feed. I know last year before we had them we were overrun with grasshoppers and this year we hardly have any.

Congratulations on your first egg. Some day I will get an egg from one of the girls i am raising. Until then I will just get em from the already raised girls I bought from a good friend.

WOW! my 5 black australorps and 3 EE's were 16 weeks old yesterday. guess i'd better get the nest boxes ready soon. congrats on the first egg. we can't wait for ours. do you know which one laid it? are the combs and wattles bright red yet or is any one more developed than the others? rich
