1st hatch 100%

Thanks to all of you, our first hatch was a 100% success rate! 15 out of 15! All our eggs were collected from our own chickens that we bought last April as baby chicks from our schools FFA program. It was the first time we attempted to raise chickens & learned everything from you guys & YouTube video’s. Our current flock (before this hatch) consisted of 1 Rhode Island Red Rooster, 2 Rhode Island Red hens, 4 Buff Orpington hens, & 5 Black Sex Link hens. We collected eggs for 3 days in fridged temperatures & kept track of which ones were 1,2,or 3 days old. We learned it didn’t matter if they were fresher or not as to when they will hatch. We also learned that the Black Sex Links all hatched last. On lock down day is when our first eggs started to pip & hatch. They all hatched with in 36 hours. Hatch day is actually suppose to be tomorrow! All 15 chicks are doing great! Welcome to our 15 newest family members:

I also had a perfect hatch 8 out of 8. I have no names yet, mine are silkies and 2 silkie/Cochin mix. Congratulations on your adorable babies.
