What day are you on? I'm on Day 20 and would also like to find that button. I have 2 chicks, 7 pips, 2 wigglers and 41 eggs doing nothing.

Im on day 20 as well. I had 2 pips at 430 this morning, 2 more at 1 pm, and 2 hatched around 6.. so 1 is still pipped the same, the other appears to be slightly zipping, and my other 4 are being lazy lol. It seems like it takes forever doesnt it??

I now have 6 chicks and and at least 10 more pips, but for 52 eggs that isn't many.

Good luck hatching!

Well youre still at day 20, perhaps theyre just late bloomers.. or trying to make a big entrance. Im sure all will be well

Day 21 just started a few minutes ago, as it's midnight!

7 chicks & at least 1 dozen pips now.

I didn't expect much from this batch anyway, since so many of them were old eggs. I'm happy with whatever I get!

Well it sounds like things are coming right along for ya now! Itll be a marathon for the next 24 hours i bet lol. And thats awesome considering they were old eggs! Question, how long does it usually take for your chicks to dry? And when you have a large hatch like that, do you periodically remove chicks to the brooder or leave them all in until hatch is over?

Chicks can remain in the bactor for up to 72 hours. The yolk provides nourishment so they don't need food/water. They will, however, explore with pecking everything, including the other chicks and their own feet (making them squeal)! Mine are pretty dry and fluffy after 12 hours. The high humidity keeps them a little damp, though.

I try not to open the bator unless humidity is really high. This morning (it's midnight here so in about 9 hours) I'll remove the first few chicks. They will be around 24 hours old. I could leave them longer but I can afford to open the bator briefly (humidity high) & I like to have more visibility and less chaos for the other eggs.

I recommend 48 hours max. Preferably when you don't have pips or when the hatch is mostly over. Some won't open it at all from start to finish; but I do pull chicks occasionally and never had a problem. My incubator is verryy wet inside..

I had a problem leaving too many chicks in once. A Silkie egg with a small flat pip got turned over. When the hatch was over I realized it had drowned or suffocated. I don't believe this is common. Chicks play soccer with the other eggs all the time!

I had one more hatch, the smallest of all my eggs and she was so much dramatically smaller and behind (the other two were walking, pecking, and investigating) that i decided to remove the oldest, leaving the new hatch and one currently pipping. The chick stays by the hatching egg and doesnt like to be alone so im cooing at it till its buddy breaks free. Seems to be working. But the other 4 eggs are still quiet. But, we're also on day 20.. so im not worried, yet.. lol

Is it normal to be in astonishment as to how small they are? Or is this a silkie thing? Or do i just have the world's most micro chicks?? :)

It really is.. so hard to believe!! I could easily fit 10 of them in my hand with plenty of room.. ive always loved and had animals, since i was very young, but ive never witnessed a birth or hatch.. so when i caught two hatches last night i was just absolutely blown away. I cant even believe what a beautiful little miracle this whole process is. I dont care if they all turn out to be roos, ill just make a bunch of coops!! Lol!!
