Hello, my name is Glen and I have been looking stuff up and reading on here on and off for about a year. That is ever since we got chickens. we got into them because of our youngest son ... he has peti-mal seizures and we are doing as much naturally as we can, so one of the obvious choices was to get chickens for eggs. Last year we got three easter eggers and one salmon favarolle. Their various personalities quickly made them into great entertainment. My wife, Angela, is the keeper of the chickens and they all flock to her constantly. This year we ordered 34 chickens (straight run, RIR, PB Rock & Speckeled Sussex) for meat and flock additions. We ended up selling 8 hens to a friend of my wifes, lost two (1 of each) and today successfully processed 16 roosters for the freezer.

I have to say that no matter what the question ... I can always find the answer on here somewhere. it is great to have a place to go where there are people who have been there and done that and are willing to offer up their advice to others.

Thanks for all the information and am looking forward to being on here.

Ahh. You are living my dream. I would love to have a freezor full of meat birds... but I am too wimpy.
I know they taste better and are better for you. You are working hard to help your boy and I commend you for that. What we eat is everything to our bodies. Just like a computer, garbage in... garbage out. I hope he improves rapidly.
