i am soon attending my first chicken and showing 2 birds. I don't know much about showing birds all i have learnt is to wash the birds the day before and in the morning wash their feet before the show but does anyone else have any other suggestions.

They should be on high quality feed about 2 months before the show, it will help their feathers look better. And given extra vitamins 1 month before the show, such as cod liver oil, and B12. The day you take them out to the show, you can rub Vaseline on their faces, but make sure to rub it off with a towl. This is one of the oldest showing tricks in the book. It makes their faces a lot redder, thus making the chicken look a whole lot healthier. But like I said, make she to rub off the Vaseline, or it will cause dirt and dust to stick to the chicken' s face.

But if you don't have time for all of this, just give them Red Cell and the vaseline
