Hi Bill From Ohio.......I am Bob from Michigan and I am in the same boat......First time chicken farmer, just retired. I am building my coop as well 4X8 with a 8X24 run. I have 12 pullet chicks 6 long island reds and 6 pearl white leghorns and so far this seems to be rather fun. Been reading this site for about a year finding out what to do when. This is an awsome site....Well lots of luck.

Bob

Thanks Bob. Im getting about 15 hens prob in about 3-4 weeks from my amish friend. They will be about 16 weeks old. Trying to prediator proof their coop. Got lots of dogs here in the country. Neighbor better keep his dogs in his yard if jot the dog warden will do something. His dog killed one of my neighbors free rance chicken. Mine will be housed and caged run.
