I would greatly appreciate any advice!!! One of my female Pekin ducks started limping yesterday, and I immediately thought about bumblefoot. I picked her up to look at her feet but didn't really see anything. I'm going to check again in a little bit to see if anything happened overnight and hopefully start getting this thing healed. I'm going to soak her in a bucket of warm water with epsom salt for at least half an hour and dry it off. I've read that you can put Neosporin and wrap it but I also saw that you can let them swim in clean water throughout the day which helps it heal faster. She has been eating and drinking just fine and walking around with her buddies so I really don't want to have to separate her. Should I wrap her foot up and what could I use? Is she able to swim or restrict access to the pool? Should I house her separately during the night?

I was able to soak her but I forgot to dump the pool water so as soon as we put her down she jumped in and ended up causing her bandage to fall off :( she ran inside the coop after I tried to get her so I just let her go to bed for the night

I see a tiny black dot on the toe. Usually my ducks get bumblefoot in the center of the foot. If she’s limping, maybe best to give her some down time for a day or two, then see if the situation worsens or improves.

Really? I thought it was bumble foot because of the black dot or the middle that looks to be filled with pus?
I see that black dot and have had bumblefoot start that way. It was so easy to manage when it was early. I’d clean it with decolorized iodine and put antibiotic on it each night before bed.
Alternatively, it could be just a sprain and that will just get better with time. My pekins are famous for sprains.

I would say that the limping is from a sprain, but there is a small spot that is developing bumble foot. The good news is that the bumble foot is very small and I don't think its the source of her limping. You can kill two birds with one stone treatment wise. Soak her foot in Epsom salt or go straight to cleaning with an antiseptic like chlorhexidine, apply a poultry approved antibiotic ointment or use plain old Neosporin (pain med free), pad and wrap her foot with vet wrap (1" wide works best for duck feet). Someone on here suggested cutting pool noodles before, I've also heard of people using beer koozies, a thick layer of gauze or buying duck booties. Keep her is a well padded area that limits her mobility and keep her out of pools/water. You can also add a poultry supplement to a separate dish of water for an extra boost. She should be feeling much better within the week if not days.
