1st timer from Portland

hi!
Great site, very excited to get some chicks this weekend. I have had a friend suggest Well Summers, Americanas, Orbingtons...does this sound right for my area/climate and for a first timer? I'm looking for lots of eggs eventually and friendly for the kids and other animals. Any suggestions welcome!

! Great to have you aboard! Those three breeds will be great together and will give you plenty of brown eggs (the Americanas will give you a tan or blue or green tinted egg). They will also do well in your climate. I can't speak for Welsummers but Americanas (most likely Easter Eggers) and Buff Orps can be very people friendly! Good luck to you!
