Your not alone having a tough first year. A lot of the people I have connected with since I started with chickens in May, have had a rough go of it. My first enclosure I demo'd after some predator attack, we assume hawks. After learning more we learned the coop was fine it was part of the run that was the problem. 2 more coops and a med bay later I feel like a chicken construction diva. A lot of that has to do with the community here. I am BYC addicted.
I plan on kicking year two off with a new large chicken house. W hoop runs on each side. Maybe some fencing for a free range area. Won't help w hawks but keep out more ground predators, keep them out of the road. And start anew.
