This is about my 1 yr female mallard.
I dont know if she started freezing after swimming a freshly filled pool in about 45 degree weather or what but her legs started stiffening, bad balance, tail bobbing up and dow, then she was in the water couldnt move her legs really pretty stiff and couldnt fly, I caught her, held her for a min, she seized in my arms neck stiffened touching her back and whole body stiffened and she fell out of my arms, I walked away for a second freaking out went back and shes was just laying there but conscious, I picked her up put her in the pen and by water and she layed there for about 10 min and basically army crawled to the corner under the house and has been laying there since shivering. I checked on her thought out a few house and she seems to be back to normal. Can ducks get hypothermia? Or can anyone help me with ideas on what could've happened to cause this? Thank you for reading.

She could have banged her head while diving under the water, I had a duckling that was the exact same as you’ve stated. I took him inside and blow dried him, after that he was back to normal so I put him back out with his siblings and mother. he was a bit hesitant to go back into the water for a while after that though

Its was just so weird, her stiffness happened after swimming and drinking and playing. she hopped out and I noticed her off balance and starting to stiffen then she went in the pool again and got more stiff. I really appreciate that info.
