Hi,
One of my 1 yr old Rhode Island Red hens suddenly stopped using her left leg on July 4th. We isolated her and I started researching, suspecting Bumble Foot. However, she has no sores, no swelling, nothing to point to that problem.
She has no other symptoms at all. She is eating (and pooping) normally, even while being isolated. It's now the 10th and she still will not use her left leg and still has no other symptoms.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Generally holds it up and tries to hop. If she is trying to get away from you (not one of my friendlier hens) she will limp but she'd rather hold it up and not use it at all.

I think she has just sprained her leg coming down off a roost (or from jumping the fence to run all over the place as ours do.)I recently had a speckled sussex that held her leg up for 1 month after injuring her leg, but she did fine while she healed--eating, drinking, foraging, and roosting. If yours can't get around, I would put her in a pen for awhile to mend.

Thank you! We do have her isolated in a small pen. It does have a small roost in it and she likes to sleep there, but stays on the floor of the pen during the day. I don't plan to put her back with the others until she is able to get around much better and I know there is nothing else wrong with her.
