I’m planning on some new grape vines for when I redo my chickens coop and run. Would a 2’x2’x2’ planter be big enough to accommodate a grape vines roots. The run will be the trellis. Also do you think it would be large enough to support dwarf fruit trees for anywhere from five to ten years? I don’t want to plant any vines or trees in the ground since I don’t plan on living at my current house for longer than the next five years. I’d hate to plant all sorts of cool stuff have it start producing then have to start over. Thank you all!

Ok, that SHOULD be big enough to house the grape, the issue I can see happening is that they will be using your run is a trellis, this means that moving either the grape vine or the run will be pretty much impossible in a year or 2 due to the grapes covering and intertwining with the run.

It also looks like dwarf apple trees can be grown in a 2'x2' pot but you need to be sure that the rootstock is a dwarf not just the top of the tree, otherwise it won't work.

You might be able to just cut off most of the growth, and move the planter with all the roots and whatever amount of vines you could separate from the run.

Commercial vineyards prune their vines drastically each year, so a drastic pruning once will probably not be a big deal for the plant.

They do, but they also prune at a specific time of the year and cut specific things when they prune, if the grape is let to climb naturally not controlled like at a vineyard and then just hacked off of the run I seriously doubt that would be a happy plant afterwards.
