2-1/2 month crowing, rooster

I think I'm leaning towards Cockerel as well. Trying to crow sounds nothing like an egg song to me.
I've had a hen that crowed before. It's uncommon, but it happens. She died later this spring, because a cat broke into the coop, & ate her. She was a Silver Duckwing OEGB that layed us tiny eggs every day.
The chicken in the photo doesn't have any signs of being a cockerel, some breeds of chickens will grow large redder combs before the males do. I have an EE that had a big comb since she was a baby.

I'm very sorry about your hen. You are right, I had a Cockerel that's comb took forever to redden up. I prayed he was a she and had hope, till someone informed me that the copper on his wings meant male! They were right :hit.

My black Birchen EE took forever to grow out. He took 5 1/2 months to start behaving, & looking like a Cockerel.
My cuckoo EE pullet has the biggest comb of any of my hens.

What signs would you expect a 10 week old cockerel to be showing?
You're correct about comb size and color can vary but when a 10 week old is showing that much it's a lot safer bet to say cockerel. That much development is pretty normal for a cockerel but would be rare for a pullet.
But a 10 week old crowing clearly points to a cockerel.
That bird is a male.

They love to fool us that's for sure. I'm into silkies (talk about hard to sex) I'm getting way better at sexing them young but still get that one stumps you!

I sex my silkie chicks by wing feather sexing. I've been about 97% accurate with this technique.

What!!!! Really, at what age and what are you looking for?
Around 1-2 days old. I look at the feather bud lengths, boys usually have shorter even ones then females. Males, short primaries, & coverts. Females long coverts, short primaries.
