Please help! I'm a new 4-H member raising turkeys and one of our chicks has a knee that bends inwards.

My only idea is to splint the leg straight with a popsicle stick and put him in his own pen. But then he will be unable to lay down. Any recommendations would be supremely helpful and highly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Can he walk ok and is it ratting and drinking like it should

Has the chick had the problem when you first got him. or did it come on suddenly? Has he had any injuries? Is it painful for him to move around. You could post all pertinent details, , photos etc. on the "emergencies, diseases. illness, injuries, treatment. Someone on there may have a better idea of what is troubling him.

Thanks! Yeah, he walks and gets food and water just fine. He does limp, but so far it doesn't seem to be because of pain so much as being dysfunctional. But I'm worried that if we don't correct it early on it will either break soon or be unable to support his weight as he grows. Ill try and re-post too. Thank you!

The way it looks to me is that you probably won't be able to correct it. It as young as he is it may grow just as strong as a good leg and will probably do just fine. Unfortunately in this business it's hard to tell but if he makes it to adulthood and it dose break in my opinion the dinner table may be where he ends up. But I would just make sure he eats good and drinks and just make sure he's happy and in no pain.

Welcome to BYC!!!
