Hi all -
My 2-3 week old SL Wyandotte chick is struggling. Several days ago she was limping and wing propping around the brooder. I came to BYC, and did some research, and found that she likely had a slipped tendon. I rolled it back, gave her electrolytes via syringe, and let her rest. After a few hours, she seemed better and the next few days were normal.
Yesterday, back to limping and wing propping. I could not feel the tendon roll this time, but stretched the leg, felt around for something not right, but really couldn’t feel anything.
She has always been smaller and less active than the other chicks - feathering is behind the others as well. The size differential between the other chicks and this one is more noticeable over the last few days.
The other 4 seem to be thriving in the brooder environment.
They receive Scratch and Peck Organic Starter Mash, First Peep non-medicated supplement, and Hydro Hen every 2-3 days.
I have special vet tape available, but not sure how, or even where, to try to tape her leg. I suppose that’s my question.
To tape or not to tape. And - what am I missing?
Thank you wonderful flock of chicken peeps!
