In the Brooder
I noticed one of our 3 month chicks was walking funny on Saturday and noticed her leg was all twisted and limping.
When I did some research, the main diagnosis I found was slipped tendon or perosis. Is that what this likely is?
I have no idea what happened or how long it has been like this. I dont think it have started earlier than satursay or friday otherwise we would have noticed it.
The chick is otherwise acting normally. Eats, drinks, poops are normal. The chick doesnt appear to be in any active pain or suffering even when manipulating the injured leg.
We have the knee and leg wrapped in gauze and the chick isolated but there has been no change in 36 hours.
Is there anything else we can do or is it a slow deterioration for this one? I tried feeling her leg for a slipped tendon but I have no idea what it should feel like and gave up. Normally I would just cull an injured/sick chicken but it is still acting mostly normal so I was hoping she could recover.
