Hello! I’m brand new to chickens. I have 6 chicks that are 2.5 weeks old. I’ve really become attached to them but with each day, I’m becoming nervous that I may have a couple of roosters instead of hens.
Specifically, my Barred Rock (or maybe he/she is a Dominique, I really can’t be sure as I ordered one of both) is starting to look roostery, to my untrained eye at least. Her legs, while dark, are much thicker than the rest and she’s already developed a comb. The spot on her head is also poorly defined and cascades down her neck a bit. She’s much bigger than the others, and has feathered out before anyone else in the flock.
I know it’s early to tell at 2.5 weeks but if she is a rooster, I need to make plans to rehome her ASAP, as my city does not allow roosters. Any help is appreciated!
