I have 2 baby turkeys in a brooder with 2 baby chickens. I know that turkeys need a starter with a higher protein content, so do I offer that to all of them? Or is it ok to keep them all on the chick starter?

I would feed the higher protein to all right now and if possible in about a week or two seperate them so you can give the correct feed to each. is that an option? The turkeys really need the high protien for growth but I really don't know the effect it would have on the chicks. If you can't seperate themfor feed maybe you could go a "middle of the road" feed. The start n grow we feed chicks is 19% protein, the turkeys 28% - maybe a 22 or 24%.

Or what you could do...... get some more turkeys and some more chicks. That would mean they couldn't all fit in the same brooder soooooo two brooders two different feeds. Problem solved.

We feed all our chicks the 27% the same as the turkeys all the way up to 6-8 weeks with no problems then switch them back to a lower protien once you got them hardened off.

Iam feeding everything 28 percent and the chicks have really feathered out nicely. The house is really quite now. We moved all the chicks and turkeys to a brooder in barn. 45 chicks and 26 turkeys all ages were taking over. And I got 8 new babies from the eggs I got from Harp. And a hitcher full of turkey eggs to hitch late this week.
But I am not sure any will hitch. They had a hard time from the start. Egg turner dumped a roll out then it stopped working all together.
My husband says I am not growing turkey just unicorn chickens.
