My garage is very cold and the 2 bantam roos are in my garage for the winter till I find them a new home. They are in my old broader. I was thinking of using one of those heating mats that are new on the market and placing it on one of the sides.
What do you think?

What age are they? How cold? If they are adults, they probably don't need heat at all.....

If they're fully feathered, I would give them a roost they can flatten their feeet on and let them be. You could put something up to block some of the drafts if they're really bad.

5 degrees they are only 1 pound each and are in an open air brooder. Very drafty.
5F or 5C?

How could you have drafts in a garage...is the garage door open??

Live in wisconsin. Desperately trying to get them a new home since end of October. Have tried everything. Including some very clever Craigslist ads that sound more like match.com ads. Garage is big one window and and a back door that is drafty. The garage door itself allows a lot of air flow in. I feel horrible having them in the dark garage. I play music and give them as much enrichment as I can. But I am noticing already black spots on their combs and they are puffed up all the time. Just want to know if anyone has used them and if this is a good option.

It's not their weight that counts, but if they are fully feathered....look at your wild birds, the sparrows, cardinals, etc. they weigh very little but do just fine.
