Hi there , I have 2 broody rir chooks they about 1 year old. They layed eggs for about 4 mounths and for the last 2 they don't roost and just sit in there nesting box all day and all night and don't lay any eggs ... what can I do to get them back to normal laying chickens . I do take them out and they have a bit of a scratch around and then go back to the coop and just sit there till I let them back in. They don't seem to be eating much at all .... hope you can give me some advice please.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Mountain Peeps X2 You need to break them of their broodiness. They won't lay until they are not broody anymore. And sometimes they go into a molt after being broody. It can take a while after finishing up with being broody to get back to laying. So cage them, keep them out of the boxes and definitely no eggs to set on and hopefully they stop with being broody.

Good luck and welcome to our flock!
