2 chickens dead with blue body and combs need help identifying what killed them

How far is the family friend away from you? They sprayed the field next door to us using a helicopter and I almost had a panic attack worrying about the chickens. I'm not sure how rural you are, but I wonder if it could have been something someone sprayed on their crops? Do all your other birds seem fine?

The thing that really got me, was that our family friend had the same thing happen to her! Could it be a disease going around?
I hope you solve the mystery. Perhaps comparing notes with your friend, and also asking other chicken keepers in your area? You might ask at your local feed store. Good luck.:fl

:hugsSorry for your loss
The blue coloring is a sign of hypoxia. (Lack of oxygen) It can be caused by several things, choking/strangling like you describe. Poisoning can cause also pulmonary illness in some cases. Anaphylaxis is another reason, if there something that caused an allergic reaction. The list goes on... Bluish coloring can also be a post mortem sign depending on temp, humidity, time elapsed since death. Without a necropsy or definitive proof of cause using the coloring is speculation.

Ok thank you... :hit

Oh that is sad. Sorry to hear that. Could they have gotten into anything toxic?
