1 week. What is age of that chick?
Malays can be pretty mean, yes. But Indio Gigante have that in their genetics. This is the feistiest chick I've ever seen! It's not quite 3 weeks old yet, & I'm trying to integrate it in with other mixed age birds, from 4 wk on up to adult. It's really bold for 2 1/2 wks- goes right up to adult hens, makes a bold stance, then jumps up at their faces. I'm afraid it's asking for trouble.
Question now: I've read that Malays are not real friendly amongst each other. Is that true? And, if this chick is Malay instead of Indio Gigante, are there other traits I could be looking for that might help identify what it is? I need to get up to date pics of it & post here. It's getting quite tall, with reddish brown showing on wings & shoulders now
All my Indio Gigantes have been quite mellow amongst themselves. Hens share nesting boxes & broods & roosters are not aggressive at all. This extreme boldness from such a little chick is new to me!Malays can be pretty mean, yes. But Indio Gigante have that in their genetics.

This is the only 1 I have that wasn't hatched/raised by my own Indios. It came from an ebay egg that was supposed to be Indio, but it has me wonderingEvery batch is gonna be different.

True. So far the other adult hen's haven't been aggressive back. I'm hoping after a week or 2 little chick may mellow out a bit around them.Every chicken is an individual.
I have several indio chicks that look similar to thisHi, I purchased some Indio Gigante eggs on ebay. Out of 7, only 1 hatched. Only thing is, I've NEVER seen an Indio chick that looks like this. My initial stock came as chicks from Greenfire Farms - all varying degrees of brown/golden, varying from almost white to dark chocolate. My hens have hatched dozens of broods, all same color combinations. Now this little 1 pops out. Has anyone seen this color in Indio chicks? Years ago when I had Australorpes, their chicks looked like this. Seller is not responding, but I see they also sell Brama eggs. Maybe it's a Brama? Suggestions appreciated!
